PRIVACY & DATA HANDLING

Your field notes stay with you.

This page describes the implemented app. It is not a completed App Store or Google Play privacy attestation.

Location and weather

Location permission is requested when you use GPS. The home weather dashboard sends the chosen coordinates, rounded to about100m, through the backend to Open-Meteo. Other requested field-weather actions may call that provider directly. Device/provider and hosting services may receive ordinary network metadata. No location is guessed when permission is denied.

Photos, catches and licences

Journal photos and imported licence documents remain in app-owned device/browser storage. Optional online fish identification sends the selected image to the configured AI service only after the explicit upload action. The server does not intentionally store that image as a journal record; provider processing terms still apply. Default offline identification is diagnostic field-guide matching.

Backups

JSON and password-encrypted .fishlog text files exclude photo/document bytes. File sharing is user-controlled. Local device storage itself is not an encrypted vault; deleting browser/app storage can remove local data.

Owner accounts and promotions

Manus sign-in provides the account identifier, name and email used by the private owner editor. Only the verified bound owner can edit drafts. Public readers receive only active published promotions. Promotion links lead to independent brand websites under their own policies; they are not DFO endorsements.

Deletion and contact

Delete local entries/files using the app controls. Export first if you need a copy. No cloud journal account or automatic cloud journal backup exists. A publisher support address and final store privacy disclosures must be configured before Android/iOS store submission; they are not fabricated here.
